Found Animals

What do you do if you find an animal...

Assess

If you find an animal, assess the situation to determine if it is a lost pet or an injured/orphaned wild animal.

Be careful not to get too close some animals are just fine.  Take a picture if possible & back away.

Contact Help

For a lost pet, check for ID, scan for a microchip at a vet or pet store, and then contact local animal control or shelters, while also posting its picture online and creating flyers.

For a wild animal, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator equipped to treat wildlife.

Keep Everyone Safe

Keep people away and try to remain calm and quiet.

Animals may panic if cornered, so give space.

If possible, try to guide animals away from hazards such as roads.
